This page outlines the exceptions in data availability for those working in Alaska. The IFTDSS Team works to offer as much data available as possible, but due to gaps in data and differing timelines some features may not be available for Alaska, or will be delayed. We outline these below:

Landscapes

Alaska coverage in IFTDSS exists for all LANDFIRE versions (2016 through 2024).

LANDFIRE 2024 (LF2024)

Conterminous United States, Alaska, and Hawaii

Accounts for disturbances up through September 30, 2024
LANDFIRE 2023 (LF2023) Conterminous United States, Alaska, and Hawaii

Includes adjustments to vegetation and fuels in disturbed areas for disturbances recorded in 2023.

In LF 2023, disturbances from the previous year are represented in current year products. However, LF 2023 marks the first version where only the past year is represented. Whereas LF 2022 included 2 years of disturbance (2021 and 2022) the LF 2023 Update includes only one year of disturbance (2023).
LANDFIRE 2022 (LF2022) Conterminous United States, Alaska, and Hawaii Includes adjustments to vegetation and fuels in disturbed areas for disturbances recorded in 2020-2022.

 

Landscape Editing

When making landscape edits Default Fuels Treatment Edit Rules do not cover Alaska for any landscape version if IFTDSS.

Available editing methods for each LANDFIRE version in IFTDSS for the Lower 48 United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. NOTE: LANDFIRE versions 2012 and 2014 are no longer available. However, if you have old landscapes, these can be still be edited.
