Working in the Batch Monitoring Spreadsheet
Downloaded spreadsheets come ready for data entry. If any monitoring data was already entered into FTEM at the time you download the spreadsheet, that data will automatically be included in the spreadsheet.
Each spreadsheet row is pre-populated with all the identifying fire and treatment information, followed by blank cells for your monitoring data to be entered. You’ll first notice the spreadsheet cells are color coded. The significance of these colors is as follows:
Red: Do not edit red columns or values – this information in needed by FTEM. |
Green: Validate default values and enter treatment interaction data. |
The sections below include important practices to follow to avoid upload failures.
Maintain Spreadsheet Integrity
To ensure your spreadsheet can be uploaded to FTEM when it is complete:
For Columns
-
Do not insert, rename, delete, or add columns.
-
Column widths can be adjusted and columns can be hidden.
-
Columns A,F,G are purposely hidden. These are pre-populated with data required by FTEM.
For Rows
-
Rows can be sorted and filtered.
-
Be sure to include ALL columns when sorting rows.
General
-
Do not rename tabs.
-
FTEM downloaded spreadsheets can be aggregated and merged before upload provided columns have not been altered.
-
Values can be copied and pasted across multiple cells.
Monitoring
The table below provides guidance on populating the FTEM batch monitoring spreadsheet.
Important! Blanks in this spreadsheet will never replace existing data in the FTEM application.
Column | Input | Details |
---|---|---|
Q | Yes or No | "Yes" for "Remove this Treatment Interaction?" will remove the treatment from the wildfire treatment list (Treatments tab in FTEM), indicating no interaction between the wildfire and treatment took place. |
R | Yes or No | Leave default as “No” if you want the values in this spreadsheet to populate only blank fields in the FTEM application. Choose “Yes” if you want values in this spreadsheet to replace what already exists in the FTEM system from either via manual data entry or from a previously uploaded spreadsheet. |
S | Selection from the drop-down list | Treatment and wildfire interaction details. |
T | Acres | Area. The "Treatment acres burned by wildfire" cannot exceed "Wildfire Acres" as listed in FTEM. This column is pre-populated if sufficient spatial data exist. |
U | MM/DD/YYYY | Date. "Date wildfire interacted with treatment" must be after the wildfire start date as listed in FTEM or is pre-populated for fires with matching discovery and control dates. |
V | HHmm | Military/24-hour time of interaction. |
W | Yes, No, or Other | Selected from the drop-down list. |
X | Yes or No | Selected from the drop-down list. |
Y | Yes or No | Selected from the drop-down list. |
Z | Text | Add your name to the "comment" field for record keeping purposes. |
