The FTEM Dashboard displays data recorded in the Fuel Treatment Effectiveness Monitoring (FTEM) application. Scroll the map interface and use filters to view FTEM information for a specific fire, unit, region, or agency. FTEM documents the effectiveness of fuel treatments on wildfires that interact with them. It is the system of record for five land management agencies: the Department of Agriculture USFS, and the Department of the Interior bureaus BLM, BIA, NPS and USFWS. Treatment data for other land management entities are not currently included.

FTEM records treatment success in protecting firefighters and the public from wildfire, reducing the loss of structures and investments, and documenting the need to continue with the integrated vegetation management program.

A treatment is considered effective if:

  • Wildfire behavior changes in a way that was consistent with the original goals (objectives) of the treatment, or

  • The treatment was used for suppression actions, regardless of whether the wildfire entered the treatment.

Note: Both treatment and wildfire data are updated daily Monday through Friday and are compilations are various federal and state reporting systems of record. For more details, see the t topic
