Exposure Analysis (EA) Reports

Note: Reports can summarize a maximum of 10 Primary HVRA Categories (the same limit that exists when creating HVRA Sets in the Map Values portion of IFTDSS).

Introduction

Exposure Analysis (EA) reports are generated from My Workspace (see Generating and Viewing Reports for instruction on how to create reports).

An EA report provides an easy way to compare the mean exposure of all defined values side by side in graphical form by summarizing the Landscape Burn Probability model outputs where they overlap with an HVRA Set. This can be useful in determining treatment location priorities relative to values and their exposure to fire. The results may indicate some clear trends or may prompt you to analyze further in a full QWRA to explore the exposure in terms of net benefit or net threat to values. Additionally, the exposure analyses can provide a method for comparing proposed treatment impacts on value exposure.

Note: As with other IFTDSS summaries, these statistics apply to the area within the landscape, not the buffer area. They can be further restricted to an area of interest if needed.

Report Sections and Examples

EA Reports have four primary sections, listed below. The screen captures and descriptions in this topic use an example EA with Primary HVRA Categories that include communities, infrastructure, surface drinking water, ecosystem function, and wildlife.

EA report sections include:

  1. Landscape Burn Probability Model Outputs: This section provides a brief summary of the LBP model outputs, Burn Probability, Conditional Flame Length, and Integrated Hazard. The rest of the report summarizes these outputs within Primary HVRA Categories and Sub-HVRAs.

  2. Primary HVRA Category - Primary HVRA Summary: The Primary HVRA Category summary allows you to compare LBP model results across the broader HVRA categories, such as "communities", "infrastructure", "surface drinking water", and others.

  3. Sub-HVRA by Primary HVRA Category: The Sub-HVRA summary allows you to compare LBP model results within those broader HVRA categories. For example, comparing the Sub-HVRAs within “Communities” such as Low, Moderate, and High density communities.

  4. Summary Statistics Table: The Summary Statistics table incorporates all of the analysis results within one table for easy comparison.
