My Modeling Playground
My Modeling Playground is the part of IFTDSS where you run models when you don't want to use the Planning Cycle. The drop-down menu at the top is where you select a model, then your landscape, etc. The middle of the page displays a list of model outputs (these are also available in My Workspace). Clicking on a model output displays model metadata in the right panel, and shows a list options below the output name.
Models Available
Currently the models available in IFTDSS focus on Fire behavior and include:
- Landscape Fire Behavior (Basic)
- MTT Fire Spread (Short-Term)
- Landscape Burn Probability (LBP)
- More to come...
Note: The fire behavior calculations for this model are the product of fire behavior libraries developed by the Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory , Missoula, MT.
Modeling Output Options
Modeling output options display under the model output name once you click on it. These options include:
- View on Map: Opens the model output in Map Studio.
- Download: Download a GeoTIFF raster file of the output to your local computer for use outside of IFTDSS.
- View Input: Displays a model indicating all the model inputs used in that modeling output. Also displays model run name, type, date created, resolution, and owner name.
-
Copy: Automatically takes you to a modeling input screen for that output with the landscape and model inputs pre-populated. You may make changes to any of these and run a new model scenario. This can be especially useful if you run an Automatic 97th Percentile Landscape Fire Behavior (Auto97th) Report and want to quickly re-run it with slightly different values.
Tip: Copied model runs with automatically be renamed "<original run name> - COPY", unless you choose a different name before running the model.
-
Delete: Delete the model run from IFTDSS.
Important! This deletes the output throughout IFTDSS (My Modeling Playground and My Workspace). This choice cannot be undone.
Modeling Status
Modeling status is displayed in the "Status" column in My Modeling Playground as well as My Workspace:
- Not Submitted: Some or all data to run a model have been entered and saved, the model run has not been submitted.
- Submitted: Data has been submitted to be run.
- Running: The model is running.
- Post-processing: Model calculations have completed, outputs are being generated.
- Completed: The model has successfully completed, all results available.
- Failed: Model did not successfully complete, no results available.
- Canceled: The model run was canceled by an IFTDSS administrator.
Storage
The Storage bar indicates what percent of your allocated storage you have used.
Eventually, storage in IFTDSS will be limited to 100%. Currently, it is possible to exceed 100% percent of your storage quota in IFTDSS.
